A Smashing Success for the Children of Sunset Park
For the third year in a row Lucky Strike on 42nd and 12th Avenue in Manhattan was buzzing Tuesday, June 6th, with a star studded event benefitting Children of the City, an organization serving disadvantaged children in Sunset Park Brooklyn. David Tyree and New York Giants players were over the top as they gathered to enjoy an evening of food, photos, chatting and bowling with supporters of the organization. Among our special guests for the evening were reigning Miss Universe, Iris Mittenaere, and Miss USA, Kára McCullough. Olivier Vernon, our featured player for this year was an amazing host to our guests. He was joined by many of his fellow players including Romeo Okwara, James Bromley, and Evan Engram. Bruce Beck was electric as Event Emcee and auction host, and shared some highlights on the work Children of the City is doing to alter the destructive cycles of poverty in NYC. “I am overwhelmed at the support of all our guests” expressed Founder and Executive Director Joyce Mattera. “This is making such a difference in the lives of so many children that too easily just slip through the cracks without anyone knowing. Tonight’s event ensures that some the most needy and vulnerable children will not go unnoticed or without help”.
